If anyone is considering T-Mobile

Now may be a good time. They probably did this in response to At&t's new unlimited data plan that was cheaper in some cases than Tmo's.

With this deal, families can now get four lines of Unlimited LTE for their smartphones for the unheard of price of $150 total per month for the entire family. Plus, families (and small businesses) can add more lines of Unlimited LTE for just $30 each—up to a total of 12 lines. Or families can get two lines for just $100 per month with 10 GB per line (20 GB total)—no sharing! Or four lines with 10 GB per line (40 GB total) for $120 per month for the whole family—just $30 per line!

I just moved to AT&T's unlimited from a 6GB plan. It was actually $5 cheaper.

At some point I will abandon AT&T to try TMobile. I have terrible service at work and at home so it can't be any worse than AT&T.

Do they do any throttling after a certain amount of data used?

Yes it can

All TMO plans are technically unlimited. They throttle limited LTE plans to 128 KBS after they reach their cap so no overages. Unlimited plans don't throttle, but they are deprioritized during periods of congestion after 25 GB. Most of the time deprioritization isn't too noticeable, but it can knock you down a good bit on congested towers. BingeOn and Music freedom adds an interesting twist for limited plans since that data is zero rated. All customers are deprioritized after 25 GB so if you use a lot of zero rated data but never hit your cap, you will still be deprioritized but not throttled. I get deprioritized every month and my data speed is still good enough for anything including decent video streaming.

It's on their website.

To ensure that we’re providing a great experience for our customers, customers who use more than 25 GB of data in a bill cycle will have their data usage de-prioritized compared to other customers for that bill cycle at times and locations when competing network demands occur, resulting in relatively slower speeds

Great! Thanks. I guess the space inbetween the 25 and GB is what messed up my search. Whatever the reason I like it.

How exactly does it work if I were to switch from AT&T? Would they buyout my contract/phone?

How about "EXTREMELY SLOWER SPEEDS" because even with my 4G LTE Booster, the shite doesn't even load up Google pages now after reaching 25GB. Impossible to get on Netflix and it's horse shite that I have the unlimited plan and still get "de-prioritized"

do you homework on T mobile before you switch. My wife moved to T mobile and moved back to AT&T. Horrible coverage in parts of Baton Rouge.

I'm curious about this as well. Tired of paying $240 a month for 2 lines.

Thanks for this thread OP. Just went online and changed my att plan to unlimited. I now have 3 lines with unlimited talk, text, data for 165 dollars with my corporate discount.

At&t's unlimited plan is actually a pretty good deal, especially if you have Direct TV or Uverse TV already.
T-Mobile isn't for everyone, but it's also better for A LOT of people than either At&t or Verizon. Even Sprint is better than the other three for some people in rare cases.
If T-Mobile works for you it's hard to beat the combination of price, performance, and perks. Even if T-Mobile is a little behind in data caps, price, speed, or coverage; the perks are what set T-Mobile apart. They have North America calling and roaming in Canada and Mexico that function just like native US Tmo service, free low speed data in 140 countries, free wifi calling to the US from anywhere in the world, unlimited international texting while in the states or abroad, more allowed hotspot data than any of the other big 4 carriers, and oh yeah music and video streaming that doesn't count against your cap.

Yep, I used 80 GB last cycle on one of my lines and never had issues. People have been known to bypass normal tether restrictions with T-Mobile and use over a terabyte of data(not recommended as they are kicking people off of their unlimited plans for illegal tethering) in a month. It's not the same for everyone, but I hardly ever notice being deprioritized. Not to mention the other 2 from the big 4 who still offer unlimited have lower deprioritization points.

2-3 months in a row with T-Mobile, I've encountered this de-prioritization bs with them. I called them yesterday just to simply go off on someone there. I have an unlimited plan with them and I literally get tapped out at 20-23GB and was told the same ol' nonsense.
"Once you get to a certain limit, the network becomes congested and your data is slowed down if you're in a busy area."
So of course I question -- what's the point of unlimited data when, in fact, it really is limited? If I were to reach 20GB (hypothetically) within the first week of my billing cycle, you mean to tell me my phone is unusable the rest of the month?
My phone is straight up UNUSABLE at this point. Google, Youtube, sometimes group text messages, etc. They all just get errors.
IS THERE ANY WAY TO BYPASS THIS? (outside of leaving T-Mobile which I will do soon)

No I don't think there's anything that can be done besides switching. I still haven't had that problem but you may have better luck with another company. I think the other companies that offer unlimited do the same type of deprioritizing however.
