To essentially get a fire stick. Already have Fire TV but needed a stick for the other bedroom. I've been testing out Vue, Sling, and DTV. To me, there are problems with all 3, but I personally feel like Vue is the best....although I'm not really thrilled about the UI. Until DTV can get a DVR that actually records the shows when they come on, it's a non starter for me.

Vue + Kodi + Exodus + Netflix is saving me $100+/mo and there is literally no downside. Im really excited to see what Hulu comes up with though.

I don't understand the need for DVR if you have Exodus. I was worried about not having DVR as well but everything I watch shows up on Exodus in no time.

Vue was buffering constantly for me... had to cancel it. I'm with Direct TV Now today. It's not as good but it doesn't buffer...

I never understand this. I love DTV Now so much more than Vue. Vue just felt cheap. It was slow. The website was a major pain in the arse. It had a DVR but it was really glitchy. I think the ceiling for DTV is high. And I have no problems with the stream. Guess its just different strokes for different folks

Is there a reason you still have Netflix with Kodi?

You could have prepaid for 3 months and gotten a new Apple TV

You're about to regret getting the fire stick for DTV Now. It's a disaster with constant buffering and out of sync audio/video.

Apple TV works flawlessly where you'd never know I was streaming... the Fire Stick is good for nothing other than On-Demand watching.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I just cut the cord on Tuesday and DTV Now has some buffering issues and they really need to get a DVR function that works.

PlayStation is instantaneous for me with Fire TV. DirectvNOW seems to take forever. I have 2 of the new gen Apple tvs already. Fire TV, 3rd gen ATV. Needed an additional fire stick for another bedroom. I have no intentions of keeping DTV after the 30 days is up. I like the guide function better, but that is literally the only thing.

It takes days for some programs to show up after they are run.

I also had a lot of issues with DTV now with the Fire Stick. But it runs great on the Apple TV.

I don't think I've noticed much difference between any of services, honestly, but the discount DTV Now was offering was much better than PSVue. So I'll stick with it until they raise the price.

2 reasons.

First, most people view switching apps and interfaces as something they'd rather not do. One thing the cable tv era had going for it was the simplicity. Unless you were popping in a DVD, everything you watched was available through the same interface.

Second, even if you don't mind switching apps, watching something on Kodi is an On Demand kind of act. You have to both consciously decide that you want to go watch the latest episode of that show, and be aware that it has already aired and is available. The main interface on the PS Vue has a "My Shows" row and any of your favorites that are live or new on the DVR are at the front of the list. Last Night I watched the latest episode of Incorporated because it just showed up in the list. I didn't even realize it was on last night.

I hate coming across as a shill for any technology, but PSVUE at my home is 99.9% flawless on AppleTV, FireTV, Firestick and Roku, iPad, Android phones, iPhones and laptop.

Yeah same here. I would have a hard time thinking of downsides to my psvue service. It has been great.

I switched to DTVNow for the grandfathered price, but I think I'm going back after my 3 months. PS Vue was much more stable than this.

I do like the $5 HBO though.
