My antenna came in this week and I was ready to use it with Sling. Then DirecTV announced their streaming service. I asked the customer service rep about wanting to switch service and she told me DirecTV Now wasn't available for apartments yet. I LMAO at her since it's streaming through the internet. I got off the phone and signed up for the 3 month package and I get a new Apple TV. I'm currently streaming DirecTV Now.

Welcome to other side brother . After using Sling for almost a year I had a feeling that major cable providers were putting out shitty streaming services to convince subscribers that it just isn't worth it. Sling was TERRIBLE. ATT isn't bread and butter but holy shite I'm loving DirectTV Now. The interface is smooth. And I have a free AppleTV. A lot of people are inquiring about the $35 promotional package. The rep at the store told me that it should be grandfathered forever. On the other hand, once the promotion ends and you cancel, you will have to pay the regular price. I'm sold. you Sling

I'm torn. The picture is better with DTVNow, when it works... Stability will improve I'm sure. But the complete lack of a cloud DVR and awful VOD library is a big problem.

They are very very clever for creating the "introductory" $35 plan. Because I don't want to miss the boat on that pricing, I am thinking of jumping.

They said it's coming in 2017. I know, it's not ideal, I feel the same but for a product at launch, it was pretty good. It had issues last night when the whole country was slamming it but who the F doesn't on day 1?
SlingTV and Vue still have issues and they've been up and running for months/year.

Any idea when the $35 promotion will end? I've searched around but couldn't find a definitive date. Thinking of making the switch from DirecTV to DTV Now

I believe you can run 2 devices on your account at one time. If you needed more than that, this probably wouldn't be ideal for you.

So if you wanted to watch shows on two different TVs, you would need an Apple TV type of device for each TV, correct?

Good luck finding that answer. If you call DTV three times you will get three different answers.

Was using it on 2 TVs last night and it's fast. Had 1 on SEC Network and another watching Vikings.

It's "more up to date" compared to Vue and Sling. Such as, it was only about 15 seconds behind the "real" broadcast of Vikings, whereas Sling and Vue are generally a minute or more behind. This matters for Football games and sports!!!

So back to the question, no, just need the app installed on a device connected to 2 different tvs. From there you just use your same login and each TV can watch the same thing or 2 different channels/shows.

eh, not really. how would you know unless you're in a in-game thread on TD.

Looking at sports scores or "Gamecast" on my phone through espn and watching Matt Ryan throw a deep TD bomb before the play happens is always a weird giddy feeling. Like peering into the future hoping it's true before your eyes actually see it happen live, on TV.

Am I correct that the only major channel it doesn't carry is CBS? I see FOX, NBC, and ABC

Vue has all 4

ETA: Confirmed--well that sucks considering I can't get it with an antenna either

ETA2: per article below "live local NBC feeds (regardless of market) cannot be watched on “streaming devices or Apple TV” which leaves you with... basically just web browsers. "

I really hope they bring local channels to this area.. that would make it perfect.

We have them on PS Vue in DFW, except that ABC affiliate, WFAA, isn't available. The ABC shows are available on-demand, though, and any ABC football game is available live on WatchESPN anyway.

Here's why PS Vue is still better (for me):

Have access to all the networks,

Have DVR,

Have NFL Network and RedZone,

Have my cave, the family room, the den, the media room and outdoors. If I throw a party for a game, all five sets are going. Still debating if the two live streams is an impediment in that case since I can use the WatchESPN app.

The Core offering from Sony covers everything I want, except History and Comedy.

Right now, the only attractive part of DTVN is getting HBO at $5 a month. The $10 a month difference between DTVN and PSVue is offset by DTVN'S lack of a DVR, CBS, NFL Network and RedZone, and nlw NBC on any streaming devices.

Here's why I'm pissed at Vue--they cancelled 4 channels but are still charging us full price for the subscription.
