With the viewing charts I've seen, wouldn't this be a fantastic room TV?

If you get a TV larger than 40", you should get at least 1080p IMO.

What TV or video can be seen in 1080P, other than blu ray and some direct TV movies?

Elaborate please.... All cable and satellite TV is 720p/1080i. 1080p still limited to blu Ray and consoles at this point

You realize 720p TV upconverted to 1080p is quite a difference on it's own right? Like if you took two identical TV's one was 4K the other 1080p and put it on DirecTV and turned on say NBC in HD, the 4K would look substantially better than the 1080p just from upconversion alone.

And then you add in the Xbox One and PS4 and Chromecast and Fire TV/Stick and Apple TV and the other billion mainstream apps that all stream in 1080p/near 1080p plus your digital cable/Dish/DTV that offers all new movies in 1080p now...

I mean for a light use bedroom, sure go 720p, living room hell no.

A 48" 720p tv? No go

I don't care what is really 1080p and how everything in cable is 720p or 1080i, the TVs enhance those pictures to turn them as close as they can into 1080p even when it's 720p.

Went to gulf shores a while back and the main TV in the condo was a Panasonic plasma around 46 or 50" 720p and I could tell the lower quality right off the bat

720p vs 1080p at about 50" depends on how close or far you're sitting from the TV. I'll take a well-made 720p set over a generic 1080p set any day at that size.

You people...

OP, yes, $150 for a respectable brand 48" 720P LED TV is a good deal.

Usually looks worse to me. Picture is only as good as the source... Up conversion is not increasing picture quality

Seriously. A good deal on a TV for the bedroom and y'all are acting like a lesser TV might make him go blind

This.

Generally speaking, if you sit more than 10 feet away from your TV, and your display isn’t bigger than 50 inches diagonally, you won’t be able to tell the difference between 720 and 1080.

I have a 50" Pioneer Kuro 720p plasma that I wouldn't trade for anything currently available on the market.
