So my wife and I bought and moved into a new house on the 19th of Feb. Last night her car was broken into....

Any recommendations on a reliable but not super expensive system? I would like at least 2 cameras. Not sure about wired vs wireless.

Any help would be great. I'm really mad right now

I fricking hate a thief.

Sounds like you need a car alarm first.

Why don't you just let your alarm company hook you up?

People on the tech board could probably give you a better answer but they sell 8-10 camera systems at Sams for a couple houndred bucks.

You will have better luck over on the tech board.

I can give you a number to a guy I worked with before I left BR. We put in tons of cameras and he could install everything. Shoot me an email if you want his information.

ETA Company is Innovative Home Technologies, but you may have a hard time finding his number.

Capitol Security
Custom Security
Secure One
Anybody but ADT

Just call them and get a fricking alarm. Stop messing around with do it yourself or all this other crap. You need a professional installed and monitored alarm. Pick up the phone and be done.

I have this system at my house, couldnt be happier. LINK

Dont waste money calling an alarm company, they wanted over $1k for a 4 camera system with less specs than the one I got. Picture quality is great on the 720p but can also upgrade to 1080 on the same system if you want more.

whatever you do get HD camera's so you can get a clear picture. And you can do it yourself and not have to call an alarm company where they will charge you out the arse.

Most systems now are linked up through the internet that you can monitor from your cellphone.

How long have you been having Arlo? I've been looking at those. Do you have one pointing at a high traffic area?

Thieves don't care about alarms. By the time the alarm sounds they know they have 45 sec inside and 3-5 min until anyone shows up, they will be long gone with your valuables by then. Don't spend a ton of money thinking you're safe because the window sticker says ADT.

Lock your shite up and buy a weapon for home defense.

3 months now. Been a great little system.

i have them pointed everywhere. You can set the motion detection in 10 increments from ultra sensitive where it will pick up a mosquito flying to ultra low to where it would have to detect movement for at lease 10 seconds to activate.
The cameras are weatherproof as well.

I have the Arlo as well, with two cameras that ran me $300 and have been happy. They're motion activated and I have the sensitivity turned all the way up with sets it off for the littlest thing. I just put fresh batteries in both of them after 3 months of use. For the most part I get notifications of my dog walking around the yard. I also set the record time to 90 seconds instead of the 10 seconds that come from the factory.

ETA: One is pointed at my driveway, the other under my patio, above my door that picks up where I park my truck.
