What do you guys think? I want to have a $600 limit on the hardware on a PC. Don't need a huge primary storage device, as we have a 1.5TB external HDD for storage for videos, music, etc.. so thinking just a 256GB SSD will work for everyday usage.

Also some light gaming. LoL, SC2, CS:GO mostly, but not concerned with having top of the line graphics or FPS.

Could I get away with an i3 instead of i5 and save myself a little money for a bigger SSD or better video card?

I can put these things together but I am not good at keeping up with the technology.

For your troubles:

Bad idea to get a cheap case with PSU combo.

You could get away with an i3 most likely, but an i5 is versatile. But those games are probably all reliant on single cores, so you may even get better performance from a higher clocked i3. You could go cheaper on the motherboard, but that might only offset the cost of getting a real power supply. I would try to fit in an R9-380 or GTX 960 instead of that 750 Ti. The 750 Ti is old and overpriced now.

Don't have time at the moment to redo your part list, but will try to come back tonight.

Edited your list... Personally, I would shell out the extra cash for an i5, but I think this should be good for your needs. I changed your case and added a better power supply.

ILike, what do you think?

Wait for ILikes approval first

He knows a lot more than I do about this stuff.

Yeah, good list. But I recently stopped doing configurations using any merchants other than Newegg and Amazon, because most of the other merchants are not honest about their shipping charges (as in, they don't include them until you actually add the item to cart on their site, which keeps their price low on PCPartPicker).

For example, the Corsair case on that list points to Microcenter, but when you actually add it to cart, you're hit with a $17 shipping charge, so you'd be much better off getting it from Newegg. And the i3 on SuperBiz has $5.99 shipping -- plainly listed on their site but dishonestly left out of their PCPartPicker pricing (still works out to a dollar cheaper than amazon, though).
