What is expected today:

quote:

The Apple TV will run a brand-new iOS 9-based operating system called “tvOS.” This naming convention is in line with the “watchOS” and “iOS” names of the Apple Watch and iPhone/iPad/iPod touch operating systems, respectively. We’re told that the operating system is based on the interface of the current Apple TV OS, but it includes lots of new iOS 9/El Capitan interface elements, including lots of transparency effects across the system. In addition to the Periscope app reported on earlier, we’re told that Airbnb is preparing an Apple TV app.

New iPads

12.9" iPad pro with a Stylus, $799 starting Price
targeted at professional and enterprise users as well as artists
iPad Mini 4

iOS 9.0

Always on "Hey Siri" like "Ok, Google" (now Hey Siri only works when your iOS device is plugged in)

Apple should provide another look at iOS 9 and announce a release date for the software update, which is likely to be Wednesday, September 16. The final golden master (GM) beta version of iOS 9 should be seeded to developers following the keynote.

iOS 9 should be released for free on Wednesday, September 16 for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3 and fifth-gen iPod touch or later. iOS 9 will run on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus out of the box.

WatchOS 2.0

Also new watch bands

Requirements: Live streaming uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.

Interesting that you can use the Edge Browser now.

Not sure if that list will work or not as my account is set to private, but it should be fun to follow the keynote with those peoples instant takes and jokes.

No. Well, yes, it is a big upgrade for the S iteration, but there is never enough new to warrant a year to year upgrade. That's why they do design changes every 2 years.

I've never understood why people switch from say a 5 to a 5s or in this case a 6 to a 6s. However for someone like me the 6s will be well worth it coming from a 5. I really think getting on the s cycle is a better option.

I agree. They're always more polished then the new designs (see antenna issues with iP4 for example). I had to get a new phone when my 5s was stolen, so i jumped on the 6. Its a great phone, but I'm thinking of holding out till the 7s to get back on that cycle

I really like Apple (not in love as I'm open to other products) but their shite is getting stale. They don't need to create new inventive products every year but iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with "Force Touch". That's a snoozefest of a reason to shell out 600$.

Because everyone that has an iPhone or wants an iPhone already has a 6 or 6+?

i'm on the S cycle currently, and will probably be upgrading soon. i'm actually considering making the switch to android for something different (new moto phones look good), but there really isn't another phone out there with the seamless experience of an iphone from what i can tell. the customization of android is great and all, but there are obviously tons of people who don't really care about that. now i just need to figure out if i'm one of them

I have the 6+. Won't be upgrading.

But my work phone is 5s. And I've been holding off a needed upgrade (verizon - LTE + talk not available). So I'll still get the new one. Won't be the plus though.

Same here. I've been on the S cycle since the 3GS. Had the 4S, and now the 5C because I was being cheap. My wife drowned her 5C so she's been using an older 4S for a while. She wants the 6+. Just waiting on contract to end for us and prices to drop. I'm sticking with a 6 or 6S.
