Currently have a late '10 air w/o really any issue. Running a little low on HD space, maybe...(23GB free)

but man, that screen. really don't need a new laptop... but that screen!

/before this turns into a google/MS/apple debate, I love my windows 7 thinkpad for work, this is for home use. Ironically it is a 12" SSD based laptop like the new macbook.

Update - BestBuy had a one day sale on the mid-2014 Macbook Pro $300 off + a 10% USPS movers coupon. so, got a new mid-14 MB Pro for a steal. Worse case I can flip on eBay and still make money.

If you want it and can afford it, just go buy it.

I heard benchmarks put it on par with the 2010 Air.

If I got anything right now it's be the 13" retina Pro.

I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch Mid-2014 with the Retina display, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. I have a Windows 8 desktop and I have pretty much moved everything over to the Mac now.

I like the integration with my other Apple devices... I have several Apple TV's and AirPort Express units.

The MBP is also very fast.

My work Laptop is a Dell Precision with a 17-inch screen so I have easy access to both, I would prefer to do all of my work on the MBP if given the choice.

I have a MBP and work in a Lenovo and the main thing I hate about my Mac is the way Microsoft office looks on Mac. Haha. Stupid complaint I suppose but it bothers me.

If you are going to get one, you might want to get one today. Best Buy is discounting several of the 2014 models.

13" 128GB MB Air is $800
13" 256GB MB Pro is $1200

ETA: I have the 2014 13" Macbook Air and it is amazing. The battery lasts even longer than advertized (12 hours). It never dies. And it is plenty fast enough to do everything I need it to do.

Don't pay 1299 for a thin laptop with a weak processor and mediocre screen

Go grab the Office 2015 preview for Mac... It's free (but time limited). Makes Office on Mac look just like it's Windows counterparts. I actually enjoy using Outlook on the Mac now... The 2011 version of Outlook for Mac was just ugly.

That's what I got a few weeks ago. No brainer if you want a macbook.

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro, I hate that they no longer have disc drives, I'd keep what you have and get a portable hd

Maybe instead invest in a home file server. Apple has one and even they expensive thing is less than a new laptop.
