There was a recent lightning storm that fried one of the two HDMI ports on my TV. I need to find an HDMI splitter that would allow me to toggle between two inputs (DVD player and satellite TV) on the one functional HDMI port left for view on one output (1080p TV). I went to Best Buy and bought a splitter but it turns out that one was for two outputs and 1 input, not the other way around. So what type/brand of HDMI splitter do I need to buy to fix my problem? Thanks!

I have this one, and it works fine for me. You can get one with more inputs, too.

you need a switcher, not a splitter

there may be some that will automatically switch to the input that is powered on and sending a signal, which would be ideal

monoprice probably has cheap ones

I have exact same. Does everything I need. Better than expected and cheaper than expected.

The one I linked does this...what gets it screwed up is my uverse box and Roku are technically always on. No big deal though because I was able to program my harmony to change it.

I have one too. Works automatically to switch to the active input and doesn't require external power.
