To help you all better understand the situation..I have the Netgear Modem/Router that COX supplies. In the past, it was shitty as hell..going out for hours at a time.

I ended up buying a Surfboard modem that worked great..but the router I bought to pair it with sucked major arse. It wouldn't reach 30 feet without interruption...so I decided to reactivate the netgear modem/router and it started working like a charm.

Now, I keep getting cut outs..but not disconnections. You can only tell when streaming TV shows/watchESPN, not from just surfing the web. It's also happening when I'm playing my PS4. I hooked up my surfboard modem to troubleshoot the issue and it appears to be the modem(didn't notice any disconnects), but I'm wondering if this sounds like a problem with my connection, not just with my Netgear modem/router.

Don't go cheap on your hardware:

Motorola SB6121 for your modem
Asus RT-AC66R for your router

Honestly, people should consider 8x4 modems to be minimum now unless you're going to stay on the shite tiers (15mbps and whatnot). Cox is using at least 12 downstream channels, and 24 or 32 in some areas. Over-subscription is a bitch.

I have the 6183 as well. ALMOST got the 6190. In fact, I ordered it, and then canceled it after I called Cox and confirmed there are only 12 downstream channels here.

I have a 6141 not being used if anyone is interested.

I have the router. Love it. Tremendous range finally covers my entire house.
