I have them for Internet only. It is $40 a month and I got the letter today saying my one year promo rate is over and it is going to $60. There's no way I'm paying that for Internet. Should I bother with haggling them or am I better off switching? I think we have a few other options for Internet only. I'm not bundled or anything so I'm guessing the standard offers of giving you premium channels or reducing your rate if you bundle won't come up.

do have a wife or person who lives with you? Cancel the account and make a new one in their name

I didn't negotiate until after 2 years w/ charter. Year 1 was the intro rate, year 2 was not much higher and year 3 bumped it up to $60 at which point I called them and got it back down to $45 I think? Guy told me I'd have to do it all again in a year because they have no contracts, but that they were always willing to work with you.

I've been too lazy to do it again this year because I'm about to move.

Yes. I called and essentially said i wasn't paying that when it was going up and to cancel my service. They then said 'what if we get it as close as possible?' They matched my old price and I stuck with them.

I have found this to be the case with most telecom companies. Annoying, but usually works

I'm moving from Nac, TX to Eunice, LA friday and I just scheduled charter, service is 40$/mo for 60mbps and he did tell me right at the end that in a year it would go up $20 but not more after that.

Thankfully I'm just renting the house and will most like be out before the year is up.
