Is the Logitech Harmony Ultimate Remote the way to go for using one remote for multiple devices?

Amazon has on sale for $169 (original $229)

TIA

Yes best remote on the market it's difficult to program but once you learn how to it's great also works with echo and dot for voice control

Yes. Legit. I have the Elite and love it. It's also nice that I can use my iPad or IPhone as a remote as well.

I have one of these on order.

I am curious to how well the remote app works with your phone or iPad. How easy to use and/or functional is the app? Do you find yourself using the actual remote more often or the app?

Yup I have the hub based ultimate and it's one of the best purchases I've made.

If you have 3 or more devices it's a no brainer.

Have read mixed reviews but trust the people of TD... So went ahead and ordered it considering this seemed like a great price.

The app is pretty solid. I like using the actual remote better. It's kind of a pain to unlock the phone etc.

It's come in damn handy when the remote is across the room and I don't want to get off the couch though.

You can also use the app even if you aren't on your own wifi network, makes it very easy to screw with the wife and start changing channels and turning the tv on and off while I'm not home. Haha

I use it to control my TV, Reciever, FireTV, AppleTV, PS4, Blu Ray, OTA DVR, and HDMI selector switch. Makes life way easier than chasing all those remotes.

I wouldn't be without one, this is my second one actually- my old 550 didn't have the ability to control the FireTV so I upgraded it.

I plan to get a smart thermostat and will make sure it is compatible as well.

What I would also recommend is getting an additional harmony smart control remote from eBay for about $20.

It has physical buttons instead of touch screen and can be used side by side with the touch screen remote.

It comes in handy when you forget to charge the touch screen remote or the times when it's simpler to type commands using the physical 0-9 keypad.

I have the elite. Can I do this? GF hates the elite remote and wants one with buttons

I've had this remote for several years now and love it. You will be very pleased with it once you get used to the touch screen.

Completely agree. App is really nice to have when in a pinch like when the remote is charging or on the other side of the room. I have an iPhone and when in the app my screen will dim after several seconds but remain in the app so I can access any of the commands without having to unlock the phone. Not sure if that's in settings or not.

Nothing more to add to what the others mentioned above besides I love the remote and app.

Thanks yeah it looks like you can have one of each (one elite/ultimate level remote and one companion).

That's it. I got one for $21 shipped on eBay.

The only bad thing is it doesn't have backlit keys; it's difficult to use in dark situations.

If I'm watching cable tv and will be relying on the numerical pad I'll grab that remote 99% of the time over the touch screen.
