I've stated a few times on this board and a few others that i was looking for a new laptop to do some work on but also use as a media player. Well I finally bought one and I have been using it all day and I must say, Microsoft did an incredible job with this machine.

Very light, portable and really does well as a laptop as well as a tablet. If you're in the market for a new machine, I highly recommend this thing.

I know I can google it, but having the price in the OP would have been helpful for comparison purposes.

The linux and apple crowd won't buy what you are selling even though the reviews of the pro have been overwhelmingly positive.

Some people refuse to believe MSFT can produce anything useful.

I have no doubts that it is a very good device. My only question is what separates it from a pro or air? Just the tablet aspect of it?

yea the tablet aspect which allows you to run google play apps on a 12 inch screen in full screen or windowed mode and the stylus pen lets you draw notes/pictures on it.

plus it's a light, portable pc, not a mac. so the OS are different.

and henry, good choice. check out some youtube videos of all the cool things it can do

I got a thinkpad yoga as a test for a replacement to thinkpad and iPad at work.

We are about to run a test on the surface pro 3's.......I'm hoping those pan out because this yoga is nice but isn't what I need in a tablet. Great laptop though.

I messed around with the yoga and it was a cool laptop but it was nothing like this. The main thing I didn't like about the yoga was how you couldn't disable the keyboard even when you had it flipped behind the screen. With the SP3, once the keyboard is put behind the screen, it is disabled so it doesn't matter what button you push, as long as the keyboard is behind the screen it won't input anything.

Welcome to the SP3 bandwagon. I've been aboard since I got mine last year but don't worry, there's plenty of room for newcomers. Many are expected.

I have 2nd gen yoga.......the keys "depress" when you fold it back.......they are disabled.

I still think the SP3 is going to be what we need to replace everyone having a laptop and iPad.

Definite Apple ecosystem fan here and I'm pretty okay with happily admitting we'll be Surface 3 owners soon. I don't refuse to admit that other hardware makers produce quality products. I just don't get the generalizations that people make on both sides...

maybe you were messing with a faulty one but the keyboard disables automatically when it flips behind on mine

I believe the Surface Pro 4 rumored to be coming out in a couple of months. I can only imagine how refined that machine is going to be. I hope they increase the battery life on the SP4. I hear that is a weak spot on the SP3.

I'm an Apple guy and think these look awesome. I didn't think Microsoft was capable of stepping up like that but they sure did. I'm hoping I have a reason to get one to play around with sometime

We just got a couple of these at work that I had to setup for some of our more mobile employees. I had never played with one before and now I want one. I'll either wait for the SP4 or just go with the Surface 3. I don't need anything crazy, and the cheaper price + tad bit smaller screen seems like it would be perfect for what I want. Add in the fact that these things are running full blown windows and I'm sold.
