Anyone have either of the Google OnHub routers? Looking to purchase the cheaper TP Link one and wanted to hear opinions on them. Thanks

I bought one for my home and a second OnHub for a rental I own. Love them both and extremely easy to set up. This is coming from a non-power user, but for general browsing and streaming, it's been great.

You can get the same for less with other routers. You don't need AC 1900.

Costco has a Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 with 3 antennas for 89.97. If you aren't near that, get something like the Archer C7, C8 or C9. I'd opt for the C9 because it's only a little more.

Thanks for both of the responses. Which one do you own? The Asus or TP Link? I was leaning toward these because of the ease of use and I have many other Google products already haha.

I have two TP Links. I bought them both before the Asus was even announced.

I don't know what Google's router does that is any different than any other good router. My Nighthawk was extremely easy to setup. Beamforming and dual channel is already set up. The auto channel is kind of wasted. All you do is look at the wifi analyzer app and it tells you the best channel to be on. I think it's 1,6,11 on 2.4ghz and any channel on the 5ghz. Once you have those setup, you won't change it because your environment won't change too much.

I think you should definitely pick up a router with beam forming. Much much better connection and range in my experiences. Now if att can just catch up.

No worries. I use my "prioritizing" a device option a lot on the app. It helps tremendously when streaming videos over wifi.

That is one thing that really intrigued me too. The app sounds really helpful and cool. I just saw they came out with shells for the router too haha.
