Has anyone else tried Google Fusion Tables maps?

I was looking for a way to publish an interactive map with around 30,000 worldwide postal zones of customers who bought from an online store, but didn't want to pay monthly fees charged by map service vendors.

It turns out that this free Google feature can upload a large Excel file from your PC, generates Geocode coordinates using your "City, State, Zip, Country" entries, and gives you a link to an interactive map you can publish online.

The interactive map I published is at the top of this page.

Of course, I recommend uploading only general location data and no personally identifiable customer information.

It's amazing to think what Google is willing to give away... for the time being.

Google will make money selling those addresses to your competitors.

As stated in my post, I uploaded only cities, states, postal codes and countries.

You'd be crazy to upload or publish personally identifiable customer information such as street addresses.

Nice try at free marketing to the two readers of the Tech board who care about mapping software.

Thanks for the heads up.. I used to use the "Create your own Map" feature in Google and that's limited to 100 rows..
