An award-winning company founded by former Google engineers is taking legal action against the search engine giant over claims it has engaged in a “pattern of abusive behavior” and is violating privacy rights on a “massive scale.”

Disconnect, a U.S. firm that designs privacy-enhancing technology, has filed a complaint with European antitrust regulators after its Android app was banned from the Google Play Store. The app was designed to protect smartphone users from invisible tracking and malware

Google is putting its interest in ad revenues above protection of its users, Oppenheim alleged, undermining the public’s right to privacy and ability to protect itself from malware and identity theft.

Company acts in own self interest! Grab you PITCHFORKS! oh, we're not talking about Apple?

Google has dropped lots of apps that interfere with other apps. It's their policy, and the play store is not the only app store with a similar policy. Disconnect claims they just want equal treatment, and as far as I can tell, they are getting just that. They use Ghostery as an example, but Ghostery's app is a browser that doesn't interfere with other apps. Similarly, Disconnect has 2 apps on the play store... one that does private searches, and another that seems to offer protection on unsecured wifi. Looks like they are complaining about their Disconnect Malvertising app, which seems to interfere with other apps, and which I can't locate on the iOS app store, either (can you guys find it?).

It doesn't look like they have much of a case to me, which is probably why they are doing this in Europe rather than here.

You don't really need to set bait for it, either.

But while we're talking about it, does my post seem biased in any way, or is it logical and sensible?
