Excited for it! Getting it through ATT, but just found out it would take 4 hours?? What will they be doing?

Update: it's all setup and working great!

They'll have to run a new line and terminate it. I'm not sure it's still the case, but terminating fiber used to take a long arse time to do.

When they ran mine they left the wire out and came bury it a week later just to be sure I had zero issues, I did not. Install took 3-4 hours. Wife and I are both very happy with it, very reliable and have no issues whatsoever.

I'm extra excited for the bandwith, not so much for the yard. Is it true they drill a hole in my wall?

I just switched to Att fiber from Cox and im not impressed so far

Att customer service is terrible, ive called 4 times since last Tuesday and i haven't talked to an American yet. I can't get them to understand my issues and they've yet to get me to someone that can.

The wireless router you get with att is crap, it doesn't even come close to covering my entire house. I can't stream anything from my living room (router is upstairs)

I'm about to spend $300 on google wifi so i can have wifi throughout my house again.

only good thing is im saving $50 a month

Bc AT&T didn't want to go to fiber. Their hand was forced by Verizon and Google

i had it installed last week. They quoted me $50 for Internet1000 (the giga/fiber). They spent a good part of 4 hours. They spend 1/2 the time in your yard running the fiber from the street to your wall. They put some sort of contraption in my garage that uses an outlet. They then run Cat6 from the contraption to your modem location.

Check your account when they leave though. I ordered the gigabit, but my account had Uverse 46mbps. They then said the $50 is for 100mbps, I told them that's not what they sold me over the phone. They bumped me to 100, but I'm Still waiting for a supervisor to call me back to see what they are going to do about the screwup.

The wireless (compared to my NetGear Nighthawk) is awful. Speeds don't come close to advertise unless you're right next to the modem. Wired seems to be ok though.

When they installed mine, it only took the guy about 2 hours to do it. They installed a box on the outside of my house, and they drilled in through the garage to have access to power. Then, they used the Cat5e line I already had to come into the house. I had them put the gateway in my master bedroom closet, and I hardwired everything else off of that modem. I have two switches, and I also have another router downstairs.

Anyone actually happy with their new att fiber? Seems like a lot of bad router stories

I cut my neighbor's fiber line on Saturday morning when I was tilling the ground between my sidewalk and the curb before planting new grass sod. I had called 811 and had them come out to mark everything, but they didn't mark anything in this area. When it was installed, the company was supposed to bury it 18" deep so tilling up 3" shouldn't have come close to it. Guess someone got lazy, both in laying the cable and in checking it before I got started.

Be sure they bury your lines deep enough so that if you ever need to excavate any land you know they went deep enough not to cause a problem.

Update from my earlier post... It occurred to me that I could probably just disable the wifi on the Uverse modem & connect my Nighthawk to it. I did just that and I was getting only slightly better signal. I moved the router from inside to outside the cabinet and and it's working much better. So location may have been the real issue, not the AT&T modem/router.

If your network cabinet is metal, yes, it will greatly knock down the signal.

well your wifi issue throughout your house isnt an ATT problem, it is a router problem.
