For those who have Cox phone systems, how reliable is it?

I have mine unplugged because the only calls I ever get are from telemarketers

I've never had a problem with it until right before I cancelled.

In 10 years, it worked fine with no problems. At some point I stopped giving my home number out and only gave my cell out. I was trying to wean myself off the home phone.

I tried cutting the cord a few times but they always talked me out of it.

The only problems I had before the final issue were related to accidental disconnects when someone was messing with the apartment junction box.
Only calls I got on the home phone were telemarketers.

At some point, I realized the phone hadn't rung at all in a long long time. Picked it up and it was dead.

Have no idea how long I paid Cox for a dead phone so at that point I went ahead and cancelled it.

Summary: 10 years no problems until the end when I have no clue how long the phone line was dead.

We have one that came with the bundle and it's not plugged in. We get random numbers calling it that show up on the TV everyday and we've never given the number out or don't even know it ourselves

How often did you lose your TV signal?

Never so far, except during the flood. Been great service.

Paying for the higher tier internet and not getting the numbers I should, but I just haven't gotten around to calling and complaining yet.

We have changed over six of our retail locations to Cox business and have only had minor issues. Two of the locations are on fiber, but even the non-fiber locations have been great. If I remember correctly it has been 3 years since the switch. (Smaller locations have 4 phone lines and our two larger locations with fiber have 7 lines each with them maybe going down once since we have been on the system.)

Their business site sucks, but luckily once it is set up I haven't had to do much with it since. (I have the phone lines forwarded to other locations or cell phones if the call can not reach the intended location.)

I have mine in a cabinet. I'm old enough to feel compelled to have one (grew up with it) but young enough to do everything on my cell. I really only get telemarketers even tho I have never given out the number.

If you're going to switch to VOIP, then you might as well go with Ooma. You can buy one on Amazon for 90 bucks and then port your current number to it. It costs about 3-4 bucks a month after that for the basic service, which is probably all you need. This includes answering machine, call waiting, etc...

I think you can actually make calls via Amazon Echo, too, although I haven't tried it, yet.

I second the Ooma suggestion. I had cox bundle with Internet and phone for 3 months. Had cox set up my alarm to call out then dropped it for Ooma. Costs me 4.36 per month for telemarketers to call my house
