What are functions everyone should know how to use on excel? I’m looking to dive into excel soon and want to start with the basics. Forgot most of it since college.

Pivot tables, freeze panes, eliminate duplicates, etc.

Just functions? Or features?

Functions: VLookUp/HLookup, Average/Sum/SumProduct/etc, If, SumIf/s, Interest/Payment/etc, Match/Index, Date/Weekday/etc., Left/Right/Mid, Concatenate

Features: Conditonal formatting, Tables/Charts, Pivot Tables, Solver, Form tools (check boxes, radio buttons, etc), Basic VBA

Calculated fields within pivot tables are the best kept secret around. I live by them.

Sum
Sumif
Sumifs
Countifs
Sumproduct
Product
Count
Counta
Countif
If
Nested if statements
Average
Median
Mode
Stdev
Normdist
Running regressions using data analysis tool pak
Turning a set of data into a table
Pivot tables - clearly one of the most important topics
Creating lookup tables
Index match
Vlookup
Hlookup
Left
Right
Len
Trim
And
Or
Proper
Upper
Lower
Remove duplicates
Sorting
Conditional formatting
You need to learn the keyboard shortcuts to do most of everything
Alt A L
Alt A T
Alt ESV
ALT ESF
ALT EST
Control and shift should be your best friends along with the arrow keys and page up and down.

That gets you started. The magic is how to use all of the formulas in tandem. True experts will blow your mind with their skills. I’m better than 99% of the world and I don’t know shite compared to the experts on Mr Excel.
