Here's what I am considering:

Asus ZenWatch 3 (not available from what I have seen)
Samsung Gear S3 (availability is limited)
Huawei 1 (readily available) or Huawei 2 (expected release date??)

I understand there is a delay with Android Wear 2.0 ... but what does that mean for a person that is looking to buy any one of these three watches?

FWIW, I own a Google Pixel XL phone.

I'm also open to other watch manufacturers, except for Apple.

The Huawei is a very good watch. It will also get Android 2.0. Android wear is the same on all watches. Samsung uses tizen. The only thing I liked about the Samsung was the bezel that rotates.

I had so many compliments on my Huawei watch with mesh bracelet.

Almost all first gen Android watches don't have NFC so you can't do Android pay. Samsung is locked into Samsung pay.

Got Huawei Watch black Friday. Love it. I get tons of compliments as well.

Also, I installed Android wear 2.0 preview 4 on it and it's working great!

Companies are jumping ship, google may be left holding the bag on hardware support with new models.

to all that have responded. I'm learning.

Does Huawei have ability to use Android Pay? I am sure I could look this up ... but ... since I started a thread, maybe someone else might want to know as well.

Are smartwatch sales trending down?

What's the reason for this?

I'm starting to use Android Pay more and more.

In your opinion, does it make sense to dive into a smartwatch now or wait until 2017?

I believe there a few companies that make a NFC watch that just released a watch. If you want to try it out, the Huawei watch is the one to go with. It's the best looking and it will be updated to Android 2.0.

After CES is most likely the time they will be released.

I got this Nixon (but customized) a few months ago. Its water resistant and the battery last almost two days, which is not a problem if you charge at night.

It uses google fit and android wear. I really like it and have gotten plenty of complements.

None of them can do android pay (yet). There are reports in some of the android pay updates that code is appearing to eventually use a watch..but not all watches have an NFC chip to take advantage of it.

I have a sony smartwatch 3 as well as an LG Urbane 2. I like the Urbane 2 because it looks like an actual watch and it has lte so i can leave my phone and forward the calls to my watch. I mainly do this working outside at home because face it..who wants to be the nerd talking to their wrist in public. Also, when android 2.0 comes out the extra buttons on the urbane can be mapped to open specific apps, so you don't have to swipe through the launcher.

The smartwatch 3 is still i think one of the best watches out, even though it was one of the first..this means it can be found on the cheap. It has great battery life, is completely waterproof, and has good visibility in the sun. I get mine filthy doing termite work and it's held up great. And if has an NFC chip and its own gps chip.
