I'm searching online and some people say you will lose some of the functionality of the unit, though I haven't found specifics.

Anyone know of any issues or have this setup? Purchased the Escobee today, but now wondering if I should cancel before it ships.

I don't know what Carrier unit we have off the top of my head but I'm using Ecobee with it and have had no issues

Thanks. Did you hook it up yourself? Any issues with that?

Does your unit have a humidity control?

Yes, I hooked it up myself. Was a really easy process and after wiring and registering the system, I was probably finished in about half an hour. Not really sure about the humidity control... We just moved into a new build about a month ago and I don't know much about the system yet.

I've had a Carrier Infinity unit for about a year, and there's no way I would use any other thermostat than the one it came with. Multi-stage units such as the Infinity use a communicating thermostat that tells the outside unit what stage to run on. I don't think the Ecobee will be able to do that. The Ecobee will tell the outside unit to turn on and turn off.

What does the Ecobee do that your current thermostat won't do?

What I want most is the ability to control through Alexa and through my phone, rather than going to press the buttons to change the temperature. Also, the ability to control the temperature in certain rooms with the sensors seems impressive.

I'm not sure what thermostat you have, or how long you've had it, but mine connects to my wifi, and has its own "MyInfinity" app. I've thought about the Keen smart vents for controlling individual rooms. I paid 10k for my Infinity unit, and it has cut my electricity bill tremendously. I'm not willing to lose those savings to install an Ecobee.
