I look over the phone bills every month and even though I upgrade with AT&T on data and whatnot I always still get this ridiculously high bill. There has to be a better way, right?

I see commercials/ads about Straight Talk all the time on TV/online. Is it any good? I always believe that if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

Any feedback is appreciated. I know I ask A LOT of dumb questions on this site and I admit I'm probably the least sophisticated person on Earth when it comes to electronics and technology, so I beg everyone's pardon if I am a burden.

Thank you.

Used to have it,then went to AT&T so I could subsidize a new phone. Customer service kinda sucks, but I only had to deal with them when starting up. No problems at all with coverage. I may go back once my contract is up.

I have Straight Talk and have not had any problems, but someone I know recently tried to bring his new phone to Straight Talk to replace his old one. He was switching from an AT&T phone to a Verizon phone and the whole switch turned into a cluster f*ck. He contacted customer service and they could not get the issue resolved in a timely manner. He wound up losing the phone number he has had for 15 years and Straight Talk basically told him, too bad, so sad.

He moved over to Verizon prepay, he says he pays $15 a month more, but he feels that with Verizon he won't have a major screw up like what happened with Straight Talk. He said that a few of the customer service reps he talked to about his problem were did not speak an English language that he understood.

Losing his number caused problems for him as he is in sales and many of his customers used that number to contact him.

After my current Straight Talk billing cycle is done, I'm thinking about moving to Verizon prepay.

I've used them for a few years. The biggest drawback is that you need to buy the phone outright. You can buy one of their sim cards and put it in your phone though. Different phones are on different networks but most of their better smartphones and sim cards use Sprint. I've heard of people having problems with their customer service. I've always gone through facebook so there isn't an accent problem.

Wife has cricket, which is owned by ATT. No issues with coverage. You do have to buy your phone up front. So $40 to $800 depending on your taste. $5/month off if you auto pay. An additional $5/month if you add a line, so you can get 10 GB for $50/month.

Ive used it a couple times when I needed a burner. It works great, but both times I had to play around with the apn's to get everything working correctly. the issue seemed to mostly center around mms messages from what I remember.

I'm with Cricket and have had no issues. I bought a phone for ATT service off Ebay. The data service is capped at 8mpbs so if you like watching movies on your phone you might run into some buffering issues. I pay $55 a month for 20GB of data and I don't come near that at all.

Picked up the sim activation kit for my son when he returned from deployment.....good deal. Put the sim in an old Iphone 5 and worked great. right around 48 bucks a month after taxes for unlimited everything, although they do throttle you after 5 gigs of LTE every month.

I use T-Mobile prepay for $30 a month unlimited texts/5gb data/100min talk-- fine for me b/c I dont even use 100mins of talk a month, but I do use 3-4gb of data a month.
Makes sense for me, not for someone who talks a lot although you can use WiFi calling which doesnt use your minutes.

I'll never go back to a contracted plan again. I can get Nexus phones, Moto X's etc for $399 full price. I don't need to be subsidized.

The unlimited internet is a lie. They cut off my internet one month, it was my last month with them.

As other stated, customer service is awful.

If you want a pay-as-you-go plan, take a look at PTel. You already have a GSM phone so all you need is the SIM card. They'll port your number for free. PTel uses the T-Mobile network.
