unless you just discovered how to turn off TCP forwarding for ssh, I'm not sure what you're talking about as it pertains to SPAM

I felt a little bad for spamming the board but I had to tell someone lol. I'm using it to bypass work filters for Pandora and Guacamole clientless remote desktop...so far lol. I have a PPTP VPN running but when I'm on my VPN I can't access my work files on the network.

Always amazed at how people will put their jobs at risk to listen to some music.

you do realize that their "filters" more than likely can see exactly what you are doing?

All they can see is that he is connected over port 22 to some external ip. The connection is encrypted so they cant see what data in moving through that tunnel (unless he works for the NSA)

I wouldn't put my job at risk for some music. I actually stream Pandora from my phone on LTE when I need to but mostly stream music from my Plex server (through my phone) when connected to wifi that blocks Pandora. I was just doing a little testing with a new toy. If our schedules allow, I'll discuss this new toy, in depth, with the person who would be in charge of firing me for it. I appreciate your concern though.

No one cares about whats below this line.........

EDIT: I have a work laptop and work from remote locations pretty frequently. The only time it's regarded as unacceptable to use the laptop as a personal computer (outside of porn or snuff films...) is when at the corporate office actually on their network. We use some sort of corporate DNS to access company networks and things but that causes me problems sometimes. So in the event I'm working from a remote location and want to access my networked files AND stream Pandora (which is fine...) I can use this new set up. Not that any of you care lol...

This will get you fired. It doesn't matter what you're trying to access.

Years ago I worked for a company that was using some sort of database client that had a hidden FTP ability that wasn't blocked by our firewall for some reason. Oh the fun I had with that!

I'm surprised they don't have outbound port 22 blocked except for where explicitly needed. What kind of lame arse IS security department allows this?
