I recently moved and now have a office/media room. I'm looking at some entertainment options for this room without having to get a another cable box (as the cable outlet is on the other side of the room).

The TV in this room will mostly be used for sports, kids movies/tv shows and gaming (I have an 8 y/o). Would an Xbox One coupled with Chromecast give me enough options that I could forego an additional cable box?

Would Amazon Fire TV be a better option than Chromecast? I am a Prime member. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cutting the cord

I've been hearing this term a lot regarding ditching cable tv. Someone needs to come up with a better expression, because no cord is being cut if you're still relying on internet.

Cutting the cord would be going antenna.

Will you be using someone elses cable log in to use the xbone apps like espn, hbo go etc? If not then there is no point.

B/c if you are cutting the cord you wont have any cable tv service at all to your house.
