Cox Raising rates again

Just got my bill and cable TV package going up $5 and Internet $3 starting in February. All packages are going up. They never stop, every year it's something. The mini boxes were one thing and now this. I will be keeping Internet only very soon.

Every service goes up in January. Dish is going up $5 on packages plus $3 on hopper fee

At least y'all have options. I have uverse internet only and no one else in the area to compete with for pricing.

Yet we are supposed to feel sorry for Cox because the local NBC affiliate wants to charge more for rebroadcasting. All they're doing is passing on those costs to the customers. Screw them - I am investigating cord cutting again.

Direct tv going up also, I'm gonna be paying close to $100...and I have no movie channels or anything. Just the package that has sec network. Also I only have 1 TV...

everybody is going up right now. i think i have a guaranteed rate for another 8 months or so. after that i may start playing the call and cancel game again

Call once a year. Get rates "lowered" and locked in for a year. I've gone down that last two years. Hit specials at the right time I suppose.

And they are less willing to work with you to lower your bill. I'm paying $207 for what I use to get for $159. I'm locked into Cox because of my current living situation but I can't wait to drop them the first chance I get.

I have no idea if you are getting screwed on your base rate, but $5 a year increase in a service sounds like it's basically rising with inflation. ..

I feel like I'm paying way to much for cable TV. I Have a promotion that is ending next month. They gave me $15 off a month over the last year, after I bitched about the rates being higher than their competitors.
After a year the mini box will be $2.99. So in my case it will be over $12 more a month plus the $15 they will tack back on my bill. I'm just tired of having to call them and haggle with them every year or so.
I have advanced TV with DVR box and Sports Tier($10) and the middle Internet package. I pay $166 with the $15 discount. It will be about $190 after the promotion ends and with the new rates next month.

well frick. I didn't even know they were increasing this until I read this post. Checked my account online and yep.
Interesting how Premier is increasing but Ultimate isn't. $85 for 100mbit and $100 for 200mbit. I considered the upgrade, but I can't see myself using 200mbit anytime soon.

My two year lock just expired and rate jumped from $160 to $250.
Called and best they could do was $210 for a one year lock.

I get my bill auto-drafted, so I had to log in, go to my account and navigate to PDF of my current bill. They sure as hell weren't going to go out of their way to tell me.
I'm strongly considering Ultimate though. Hopefully 8 channels is enough to handle it in my neighborhood so I don't have to upgrade my modem. Cox lists "premier" as highest compatible package. Not sure if they means they'll require me to get a new modem regardless, or if it's just a recommendation.
