Cox just straight up lied to me when i called an canceled my service.

I had to start this thread instead of putting it into the Fiber thread, but i just got ATT fiber installed. I called to cancel my service and the lady was realy nice except for the fact she lied to my face.

She said that Cox offers gigablast in my area so i should stay with cox. And i asked oh really? i havent seen them run the line in my yard like ATT did. During this I looked up may address on their site and confirmed it is not available in my area; as she was talking about who knows. then then starts crawfishing saying well it is coming and that i should st and wait it out it will be here soon.

I hate having to call and cancel service because of how hard they make it for you. but BTW for cox customers you should call saying you got ATT fiber and automatically and lower your bill , cause she wanted to give me their gigabit internet for 60$ a month with no contract even though i couldn't get it.

They will be doing theirs over coax when they have it available, so they won't be running any new lines. The problem for them right now is replacing the equipment, and that is going to take them a little while to get the cable plant up and running.

Comcast only went to DOCSIS 3.1 in 5 cities last year, and they're supposed have about 10 or so upgraded this year. Houston, which is their biggest money maker in the Western District, won't get it until sometime in 2018.

They threatened to raise my internet by about $30 if I cancelled my cable. Still not over that.

That company is such a joke.

How you liking your fiber? What kinda speeds are you getting? They're coming install mine next week

AT&T did the same thing to me. About a year ago after they ran fiber (at least I think it is, white poles with orange caps, had to dig up to run through the neighborhood) I called to see when it would be available and she said right now. I signed up for the package and then an hour later got an email for U-Verse and 25mb down.

I called them and laid in holy hell, they had all kind of execs calling me to apologize.

They did the same thing to me. I actually spoke with 4 different people on as many occasions and the last one finally understood what was happening (because the others really just didn't understand). It has something to do with the ultimate package having been associated with the gigablast brand in the past I think. Or the reps thought the Ultimate was fiber for some reason. Anyway, once the rep understood that wasn't fiber she apologized and was very, very embarrassed, as she should have been.

It didn't come off across as lying from the four I spoke to, just sheer ineptitude. Not sure which is better lol.
