So I finally bit the bullet and signed up for Cox yesterday and installed the stuff myself. Anyway I signed up for the ultimate package which is 100 Mbps apparently. I do a speed test and I'm barely getting 25. I call in and they tell me they gotta send someone out to "activate" the full speed. Is this legit?

Make sure they send out an actual cox employee and not some BS contractor.

Apparently I'm not even going to meet the guy. I live in an apartment and he's gotta do something elsewhere on the grounds, not my place.

The may have to remove a filter that was in place before you moved in, or some other equipment upgrade or change.

make sure you have a docsis 3.0 modem or it could limit your speeds to around that area (28 I think)

Your speedtest was using hardwired device and not wifi, correct?

I just swapped my old modem out for the Arris Surfboard two days ago. I noticed a difference right away. All I did was an online chat with them and got it set up that way. Took 5 minutes to get done.

Enjoy the super fast speeds when they do get the problem fixed.

Yea they gotta do that so that they can add that $55 to your first bill for professional installation....did the same thing to me and I bitched to high hell....they eventually refunded me the $25 for the self install and took the pro install down to $35.

Dumb arse shite....just one more reason to hate Cox.
