Chromecast issues with hbo go

I have hbo go through directv now. I can Chromecast hbo go from a samsung phone, but it is not working from a samsung tablet. The tablet can cast YouTube, Netflix, etc. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix?

do you have a dual-band router? (2ghz&5ghz) Make sure all devices are on the same network. The phone and chromecast may be on the 5ghz network together.

Same network. The tablet can cast other apps just not hbo go.

are you 100% sure HBO GO doesn't have some BS rule about not being able to cast from tablets just phones?
i've run into this before.

Hbo go does cast from tablets, but they have to be Android 4.1 or later. I think that is likely the issue since the tablet is old.

I have a 6th generation fire tablet and can cast from mlb, Netflix, vue, etc but can't even get the chromecast icon in the corner in the HBO go app.
