I get marginal cell signal in my house (Verizon and it goes from 1x to LTE and everywhere in between) that is real inconsistent. I have an older Wilson booster and I am not sure it it's gone bad, but I can't tell a difference when I unplug it or have it plugged in (it's five years old). Even when I got it I got less than satisfactory results.

I currently have the following booster from Wilson (just the amp- my antennas are different):

and the following outdoor antenna:

Has anyone else had much luck with a cell booster?

I would use the Wifi call setting on my phone, but my internet isn't consistent either (the joys of living in BFE).

How's your wifi? I don't know anything about cell signal boosters, but I use Wifi calling on my iphone and I assume all the other brands have something similar. Uses your wifi instead of cell minutes. Works great.

Only issues is if you walk away from your wifi signal, like if I go out to my car in my driveway or something I can lose the signal or it has a hard time maintaining the call switching between wifi and cell signal.

I've got AT&T FastAccess DSL Xtreme Pro (best option in my area), but my issue is with consistent internet speed. The phone lines in my area are in horrible condition and we lose internet a lot whenever there is a heavy rain.

When I am sitting next to my Wifi router I still can't consistently get good signal.

It sucks having to walk out to the end of the driveway to make/take calls!

I had a Verizon cellphone signal booster in my other home. It worked fine for awhile then your same problem happened to me. I found out the booster I had picks the most two used numbers as primary. Well I found out that both inside were not mine. I had to go in an put both my number and my sons as primary. My problem was solved. This was about 6 years ago before I moved.

It may seem like a stupid question but is your outside antenna pointing to the closest tower? That antenna has some directional traits to it...it's not omnidirectional. Even a few degrees off..and your signal may start dropping. Another thing...5 years can be hard on RF connectors...you might want to clean those connectors that are external to the house...or you may even have gotten water in the coax if they aren't weather proof connectors.

I feel your pain. My mom lives south of Sulphur, La and there's NO Verizon signal there...and AT&T is horrible, but workable...and her house has a metal roof (over shingle roof) to boot...which attenuates the signal as well. My bedroom there has one spot I can talk on the phone....data is unreliable.

May have found part of your problem.

Call Verizon tech support and tell them the problem. You need a 4g booster and may well get it at half price ($125.00). Easy to hook up, too. Mine is a life changer.

That is a crappy booster. They admit it on the Amazon link. Plus, the frequency isn't even it the correct range to hit Verizon 4g. Wilson makes much better ones.

They make new ones for the home called weBoost

I put it in the spot by the house that had cell signal.

I there a good website that shows where Verizon towers are? I could use my compass and get a heading and point it in the right direction.

I would hate to get new coax and an outdoor antenna and then buy an entire new system from Wilson. Like I said earlier, it's five years old.

There are phone apps that measure cell signal strength. I'm assuming you're at least gonna need new antennas to Rx/Tx 4g
