This is in the house I'm buying and I'm not sure what this is (saw it during the inspection and haven't heard from the seller yet). My best guess is that it's a wireless booster off some sort.

I thought apple by the shape of it, but I couldn't see an apple logo anywhere from my point of view. He has it mounted pretty high up.

I agree that it needs to be covered, but it's not too obvious considering that it's located in a utility closet. Not something I'll have to worry about doing right away or anything.

Thanks! That looks like it from google search pics. Makes sense. I saw Apple TV in all the rooms and Macs everywhere in the house.

NSA doesn't have shite in your house. They use your paid internet to collect everything you do.

I know it's been answered, but that is easily a cable modem with a wall drop connected to a before mentioned Airport Wifi device.

ETA: I am confused why there is an ethernet cable (blue in pic) running downwards. Maybe it runs to a switch, but why not mount the switch as well?

He had the ether net cord just running out the door into another room. Looked like he just temporarily had something hooked up and hadn't taken the line down yet. All the other wiring runs through the walls.

That's all nice and dandy and OP is inheriting the setup.

But if this is a 2TB version with AC Wifi, you could buy a better router (ASUS AC66U) and attach a 4TB external to it AND save $50-$70+ - for better wifi and better storage.
