This is listed as a modem on the Time Warner site that you can use: ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
LINK
Just wondering if anyone has one and their experience? I'm about to take over the cable bill at the house I've been renting since I just bought it and figured instead of spending $8 a month to rent a modem I can just buy this one for $90. Plus, I have a $75 gift cert with Amazon

I just don't want to have issues popping up after a year of owning it and then it's all on me vs just having TW replace the modem. Good modem?

TIA

You mean modem?

I have the 6421 version with no issues other than TW issues, I think they are. Works fine.

I have TW and live in Austin. I had that one or one very similar. I upgraded to 200/20 plan and my modem would only get 100/10 which is what I had before. Techs said only TW modem could get 200/20 speed and up regardless of what the modem specs say. Keep that in mind if you are in that tier. Definitely test it out. Otherwise though I had no issues with mine at 100/10 speeds.

Thanks. Yeah I only have like 20 down speeds, may upgrade that to 100.

Not sure if you'll return to this thread, but I bought the same one. It's great. The reviews were fantastic.

Not sure if this is serious thread.

SB6141 is highly recommended on this board.

It's DOCSIS 3.0 8x4 and well tested. TW would most likely be an issue over the SB6141.

there is a higher model to the 6141 that supports that speed.

i am a TW customer and i purchased my own modem a few years back on amazon. i only had the 20mb plan so i purchased a refurb docsis 2.0 modem for like $25. It was well worth the investment. I recently upgraded to a refurb 6121 for $45 as i changed my TW plan to 50mb.

it's always smarter to buy than to rent

and the 6141 is about as good as it gets....only one with more options you'll likely not use.

I got one, and comcast gave me extra throughput for the upgrade....by default.

Really? Not sure if someone asking a question about a product is a serious thread? Just wanted feedback of people who may have had it a while and if there have been any issues since you know, I was looking to buy one.

Definitely. $8 a month rent has the ease of getting another one if the rented one goes out or down, so I was just making sure people had a good history with the purchased modem and it seems so.
