BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition captured on video running Android

I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I could get the Passport Silver for cheaper. It is currently $549 unlocked. I hope the price goes down some in the future and installing Android on BlackBerries becomes more mainstream. If you want an Android phone with a physical keyboard, this is probably the best one out there...much like how many people say the best Windows machine is a Mac running BootCamp.

If BlackBerry did this, I would go back.
It's a shame because I actually like the BlackBerry OS. The only two things that sucked were thr camera and the lack of apps.

Has Blackberry closed the device speed and app gap between them and Apple/Android? The last device I had was the Torch and the difference was night and day when I moved to the Galaxy S2.

They've closed it a good bit. They have an Android runtime player. I use Snap and Amazon Appstore on it. Main apps I can't get are snapchat hbo to goo don't have an agreement yet with Google play services. Passport and Classic are light years ahead of the torch.

The gap still exists, but not in the way you think. My first generation Z10 was faster than my current Galaxy S5. Ran smoother in almost every way, ESPECIALLY when surfing the web.

See my Passport review on here. I list the apps I have.

Apps are still a huge weakness for me, as I've told you before. My comment was to the device speed. My Z10 was so smooth.

That's why I don't blame them for working with Google. The CrackBerry meltdown over the thought rivals the rant meltdowns.

I only need Google Drive, Fastcase, and Casemaker. If BlackBerry can give me those three apps, I'll come back today. Anything else is really just a bonus.

Should they just scrap their OS and go with android? Seems like they would sell a ton of phones if they did.

Probably. They are so far behind.

They need the carrier's help to push the phones and
1. The carriers have Apple quotoas
2. BB doesn't have the money for a major marketing campaign and
3. BB REALLY burned the carriers in years past.

It's sad that it has had to come to this.

May be pretty good. It's going to have BlackBerry Experience suite. I just hope it keeps cascades and ability to run multiple apps.
How is yours doing?

Bluetooth is still awful and it's starting to double type on the letter n. I went from my Q10 to the Passport because of the double typing issue.

bullshite. Love the cascades, Hub, and running multiple apps.

What do you find so bad about BB10? I have the opposite opinion in that it's the hardware that has let me down but the OS is quite good.
