Seems like most of the usual suspects all advertise the same job listings. Is there really such a dearth of IT jobs in Baton Rouge?

Find a recruiter. Let them do the work.

Pretty much. Dice.com is your friend to find some smaller places that need a guy here or there, but most people work at the same places. Blue Cross, Amedisys (which recently outsourced their IT, so that's not more), Sparkhound, Eatel, Cox, AT&T, Verizon..

You're really up shite creek if you're like me and very networking-focused. Not many jobs for guys who know networks but don't know server work.

Dice is a decent website, but I'd get a recruiter. I'm in New Olreans and am regularly contacted by recruiters for jobs that as far as I can tell are not listed yet.

yes

No. Also, be weary of places that are hiring constantly but aren't growing rapidly. High turn-over is a sign of miserable work/management cultures although every one of them will tell you they just keep hiring people that can't hang.

Interested in moving to north Dallas? The Plano, Allen, Frisco area?

Definitely, I casually peruse a few websites just to keep up with the job market locally and just seems to the same jobs advertised over and over.

Recruiters have gotten me my last 4 IT jobs.
Dice. Also, update your resume on each site it's on. Even if it's changing one word. It refreshes it somehow in the cue. If I change mine I generate at least 20 calls. Most are nothing I'd go for but 5-8 are usually right up my alley.

There isn't much here. And what is here doesn't really pay well tbh. Lafayette was honestly a better option until recently, before the oil and gas companies started laying off.
