Just got the Google Wifi for the house and it works great. Now I need to return our old Cox Router/Modem and replace it with a modem. Any Modem recommendations?
Are the expensive ones worth the extra money?

No, it's not overkill. But, make sure you have at least the 16 download channels. I first bought an Arris Surfboard with 8 and talked to a guy with Suddenlink and he told me the 8 channel wouldn't last long with that amount of data coming though (200 Mps).

I just replaced mine with the new Surfboard 8200 (Docsis 3.1). Figured if I was gonna replace it, I might as well future-proof it (at least a couple years worth).

Does Motorola 16x4 Cable Modem mean 16 download channels and 4 upload channels?

Dang, that thing is good for 300 Mps. I got the 6190 which is similar but it's docsis 3.0 not 3.1. It was regular 140, on sale for 105.

I have an Arris Surfboard 6183. It works well and have had no issues with it.

I also like it has two gigabit ports so one to google wifi and other free for diagnosis issues (without having to unplug from router or to have separate lan from Google wifi.
