I've got a decent handle on how Excel works; however, I want to learn more about beyond basic Excel tasks (Macros, Pivet Tables, ect ect) so I can help make myself a better employee and more attractive management candidate. I know Microsoft has programs, but I've heard they are expensive.

I can't vouch for any of them, but there are some cheap ones on Groupon. I use the MrExcel website as a reference when I'm looking for something specific.

I don't have any formal training or education on VBA, but I can write just enough to be dangerous.

If you understand the advanced basic features, such as formulas, conditional formatting, arrays and ranges, etc. I wouldn't suggest a formal/corporate type class.
YouTube is great, but just plain ole Google works great as well.
The key is needing a project. Start a project you want or are interested in. Something fun and interesting. For example, an automated College Football Bowl contest sheet was one I made that had a bunch of different programming and features in it. A random lunch restaurant generator based on some inputs (I.e. not Mexican or pizza, only cheap or moderate cost, and quick).
Once you have a project, you can research specific questions or things you want to do, then learn how to create and modify it to fit your purpose.
