I've been happy with Verizon since around 1998 in St Tammany and New Orleans

I know AT&T is pretty solid in and around NO. Uptown, CBD, Metairie, and Causeway are all rock solid.

I have nothing but problems with my AT&T phone Uptown

I've always felt that Verizon has the better network, but ATT has the better plan. If you are mostly in the city then either network will do.
If you work or travel a lot in rural areas then I would recommend Verizon.

I tend to spend most of my time in that direction in the Garden District, the Freret Street area, Magazine, and Audubon and never have any trouble except for when I am in a particular bathroom that is in the dead center of an old brick and steel building.

AT&T and Verizon have most of the low band spectrum, which allows for better building penetration and wider areas of coverage. So those two companies are going to be exponentially better in rural areas than Sprint or T-Mobile.
That said all of my time is spent between St. Tammany and New Orleans and I am very tempted to go to Project Fi (T-Mobile + Sprint).

I have Verizon and only have issues in my work building (steel and concrete) around Gentilly.
