I pulled the trigger on the Huawei for $199. It'll be here tomorrow. All research points to it being the best. I spent weeks researching these things before cyber Monday.

They basically all have the same hardware. The Huawei can match the best of them hardware wise.

The Huawei has the nicest, clearest screen, and it is one of the only ones with sapphire crystal which is basically unscratchable. They look great and the price drop sealed the deal for me.

It's three main "drawbacks" seems to be:

1. that it isn't 100% waterproof. But not of them are. It is water resistant. So some rain or sweat should be OK, but I wouldn't shower with it.

2. The heartrate monitor can be wrong in high exercise and there's no standalone gps, but it's a watch, not a fitness tracker. It does have some fitness tracking ability, but if you want a fitness tracker, then get a dedicated fitness tracker, like a Fitbit, not a smart watch.

3. Battery life is Bitched about Alot on online reviews, but everything I've read says it's the same battery life as the rest of them.

I've been reading about that all day today trying to decide. I've seen a LOT of reviews saying that their customer service is absolute dog crap. That's worrying me. Ughhh.

Ive had the Huawei for a few weeks, and its pretty awesome. Get the watchmaker app and use the watchmaker G+ page to get badass watchfaces with a bunch of different functions. The watchfaces are easily customized, so you can add remove what you want and set different tap actions for every element on the watch face. I rarely need to go into the app drawer because i do everything by pressing items on the face, e.g. tap weather icon to update weather, tap temperature to open weather app, tap battery icon to open settings, and tap minutes to measure heart rate

1. and 2. It is definitely not a workout/active wear device.

3. I take my watch off the charger at 5:30 in the morning and as of now I have 40% left. Definitely not going to last for 2 days, but more than sufficient for daily wear.

My biggest problem is that the frame and band get scratched very, very easily. The frame is super shiny so small scratches show up very easily. Other than that, it is an awesome device, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a classic-looking smart watch.

ETA: the screen is amazingly clear and crisp and the touchscreen so far has worked perfectly. And if you are into rooting/unlocking you can do all that crap too, and install custom ROMs, kernels, recovery, etc.

Is there anything you can do about this?

Or once it's scratched, you're just fricked?

Pretty much it's scratched, but someone on XDA used fine grit sand paper to give it a brushed metal appearance which removed the scratches and looked pretty damn good.
