ATT Uverse cut my speeds

So I first signed up for uverse about 2 years ago and the maximum speed available was "up to 6 mb download" so I went with that. About a year later they called to offer me a promotion that would double our speed to "up to 12 mb download" so I agreed. Everything was good, I was regularly recording DL speeds anywhere from 10 to 14 mb. Then about a month ago our modem quit working so ATT came and replaced it. Everything seemed to be noticeably slower than before but I didn't think to run a speed test until today. Now I'm getting anywhere from 1 to 4 mb. So I called them and told them my situation and the guy told me that our original plan was for up to 3mb and when we upgraded, it increased it to 6. He said up to 12 is not even available in my area so there was nothing he could do. I'm 100% certain that that is BS. I'm not positive that the drop-off happened when they replaced the modem, but I'm pretty sure. Anyone have any experience with this or know what I can do? Here's a screenshot of my test results to prove I'm not crazy

They oversold their DSL package and are cutting people back. These carriers were short sighted when they started selling this stuff, didnt think about the amount of wireless devices that would be constantly accessing the network. You'd think ATT could have seen it coming, but instead they chose to take the quick money.

Then that should be your first clue that higher speeds with ATT will not be available there either..

They aren't lying

This seems to be the issue. Finally got someone with customer retention to admit that they basically just cut our speed in half without reducing the price and without telling us.

Did you read the OP? I had higher speeds before and they were reduced. Cox doesn't provide service anywhere close to my city

You're also showing me a speed test run over wireless..For all we know, your wireless is shitty and your internet speeds are 100Mb

Stuck at work a little late, so I'm on the tech board later than normal...I see a pattern in the stupid crap that gets posted at night versus the half legitimate in the daytime..

A little research on your part instead of whining on a message board, would go a little farther

I had AT&T. I was only getting 1.5 speed and told that was the best I could get. I switched to Comcast at 50. I may pay double what I did before but oh well.

Just a tad faster than dial up, sweet. Can't believe anyone chooses Uverse for Internet. 4G hotspot would be faster.

Dude I'm having the same problem with uverse in BR. My speeds are actually worse than yours and I have the 12 mb package. I can't even stream ESPN.

My mobile data speed test was about 2 MBPS faster than my home internet.

Yup. Before I switched I would hook up my blackberry to my tv and watch netflix as it had an HDMI input. The ATT LTE was faster than the ATT internet. Thank goodness I had unlimited data.

Where do you live? I'm in New Orleans and I truly don't have a single damn problem with Uverse.

I almost WANT to have an issue with them so I can justify cutting the cord to my wife but I'll be damned if they aren't reliable as shite, where I am, at least.

Mine is hit or miss.

Right now I've got 17+ down and 2 up. I think I'm paying for 12.

It's not always this fast.
