There is a 12 page thread on MacRumors discussing the 12% weight gain that the 6s and 6s Plus seem to have gone through compared to last year's models. The iPhone 6s now weighs 143 grams (compared to 129 grams last year) and the 6s Plus weighs 192 grams (was 172 grams). I am going from an iPhone 5 (112 grams) to the iPhone 6s Plus. I think I will definitely notice the heft in my pants.

MacRumors thread: Dissappointed...WEIGHT

ETA: Found another one - The 6S & 6S+ are the heaviest iPhones yet..

They went to 7000 series aluminum to make them more durable and to avoid bendgate again. It's heavier than 6300.

It's because of the new touch pressure screen. They had to make it thicker which added weight. I read an article about it yesterday. It's not the new aluminum.

Yep, I was incorrect, I found that article this morning...

The aluminum in the 6S weighs a gram less than that in the 6. So, the new aluminum might keep iPhones from bending in half, but it's not to blame for the weight gain.

I'm perfectly ok with this. 3-D touch appears to be a worthwhile feature

My 6 is almost too light. I'm afraid I'd break it without a case on it.
