Apple sucks. Maxed out apple ipad breaks glass. Apple care expired Saturday. Called tonight-- cost 250 to repair. Not covered by Apple. Bought my last Apple product EVER!!!!!

I'd say you just haven't talked to the right person. Someone would do the right thing and say yes.

Nope told me they would not fix it unless I paid for it. Told them I was done. No response except asked if I wanted to start a ticket to get it sent off at MY expense. No way. Can get it fixed locally for less than 1/2 their price. I am done with Apple.

Yeah, but they can't properly calibrate it like Apple
Downvote all you like, but Apple stores have special machines that calibrate all screen replacements. I had my 6+ screen replaced, but it failed calibration so they gave me a brand new phone.

There are legit services on eBay that are trust worthy that do it for like $30-$40 or so. I have used them.

Make an appointment at the apple store and see what they will do. I've had better luck in the store with broken screens that way.

I'd be pissed too, but only because of the timing of everything. I wouldn't blame Apple for your device being out of warranty.
