That's a terrible price for a 40" off brand TV. Pretty simple to comprehend that from what he said

Not really. Brand or not the specs look decent.

I came here looking for feedback though so I was hoping for some direction and reason.

You should be able to find an off-brand 40in for <$200.

It's an off-brand and it's only 40 inches. You can find those with the same specs for at least 50 bucks cheaper

I think the model you listed had the built-in Roku that may be jacking the price up.

Any recommendations? Doesn't need to be off brand.

I was pleasantly surprised with the TCL tv I bought. Not much of a drop off but saved a lot of money.

Both of the kid's rooms have the 33" roku versions. They are perfect for them and cost less than $170.

TCL is middle tier, certainly not some no name. And it has arguably the best smart tv UI available.

Got a 720p, 32" Roku TCL in my gym and it's definitely a great value. Sound is for shite, but as good a price per picture HD you're going to find. The built-in Roku makes keeping up with everything a cinch - I have 1 remote, period.

(TCL is the most popular brand in mainland China, BTW.)

They are good, not fantastic TVs. As in they are not for videophiles but for most people they are perfectly fine. The UI is great imo. Takes about a day to get used to it but then it's second nature. Biggest difference is each input is treated as just another Roku channel in the interface.

I grabbed the 55" version about three months ago from Costco.

$480 at the time with manufacturer's instant rebate.

No complaints from either me or my wife. It's in our bedroom and we enjoy the Roku interface.

I am FAR more into electronics than the average person and I never heard of that brand until this thread.
