This allows you to use cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc) instead of an on-premise NAS or PC. I'm running a 5 TB Seagate NAS at home and it works really well.

The Plex Cloud sounds really intriguing, but you have to have Plex Pass subscription. I might upgrade to that since it's on promo for $120 right now.

Anyone tried it? Does it work well?

Not yet, but I think I will set it up for a few of the kid's movies this weekend.

Why would you want to kill your internet cap with that? Doesn't seem prudent when just wanting watch movies that can be downloaded once and watched many times without affecting your internet.

I guess I can see the advantage, but my media stays connected all the time and available to me on any Plex device.

Am I missing something?

ID have to get the 10 TB google drive package to store my entire collection. At $100/month it's not worth it to me. Plex runs fine off my Mac mini.

not yet

I bought the lifetime Plex pass a long time ago, so I got the invite a while back, havent looked into it too much. I dont know exactly why I would need it. I opened up a secure port to my home server years ago, and have hardly had any issues with accessing my media from anywhere.

whats the benefit? Under my current config, I guess I'm only susceptible if the power or lines go down at my house during the very impossible chance I'm out of town and want to access my media. Which is pretty much never.
