Rented out a camp this weekend that had it. Really liked the idea of having pre existing speakers wirelessly connected through wifi with a handy app. Also lets you divide the systems into rooms. Anyone have it and can tell me how reliable it is?

The equipment is bullet proof but it's performance depends greatly on your network.

I have the connect amp connected to 4 in ceiling speakers and love it. The biggest key is having it connected to an Ethernet cable which will solve latency issues.

Yes, it's best to have it connected with wired ethernet but it will create it's own wifi network between the devices. it's a great system and great sound.

Well then how does it work? It creates its own mesh network IIRC.

I have one play 5 plugged into my router in my office. I have 2 connects, one in the receiver that controls the ceiling speakers in the house one for the outside receiver.
I have filled in a few places in the house with play 1 and 3. I love the way it all works. No latency as long as they are all synced. I have the new playstand thingy on order for our keeping room tv just to add some sound.

Agreed. I have
-Play:5
-2 x Play:1s
-Playbar
-Connect:AMP connected to 4 in ceiling speakers

I love Sonos and so does my wife and there's virtually no wires for the kids to get into as well.

What I don't understand is this new Playstand. Seems to be an overlapping product with the Playbar. Kinda weird given TVs now a days too. Bad move by sonos in my opinion. I think people would rather see a waterproof speaker or just updated versions of their current line up.

In the room that I bought this for, the only logical place to put a Tv is in the corner. Not a fan of wall mounting TVs in the corner. We have a corner armoire that works perfectly and the play stand will fit in there just so, a playbar would not. All my other tv's are wall mounted. I have a dedicated media room with a full system but honestly we watch most of our TV is the smaller den right off the kitchen.

It works over wifi. That's it.

'The Sonos wireless sound system works by connecting one single device to your home network to play music – from either online or local sources – before adding more Sonos devices (up to a maximum of 32) that all connect using a secure wireless mesh network known as Sonosnet"

Sorry Bro, you are mistaken

I can tell you this is how it works because I have shite wifi in my garage where my garage/oudoor receiver is located and the sonos connect works without a hiccup.

It can either be wired into your router or use wifi to get the content to the first device but from there it makes its own mesh.

I have 8 connect amps, a connect, a play 1, 2 sound bars and 3 subs. One playbar and connect amp and sub make up a 5.1 system in my bedroom. Sub outside on my back porch for the last 2+ years. One of the amps also hooks to a amp/sub combo in the garage. I love every last bit of it! I used to have a hard drive with 80 gigs of music that I dont even know where it is.

And they do make there own mesh network between them I believe (sonosnet). I have mine hard wired in a av closet. I could have them all over closer to the zones but I built the house with a closet under stairs that I have everything run to.

I'm late to the party here, but I have a post history of discussion on Sonos

It's worth every penny IMO. As I have said previously, check out some of the older ZP-80/90 ZP-100/120, models on eBay. They are basically the same thing as the Connect and Connect Amp, without the $350 and $500 price tag.

Link from Sonos for more info

Another good thing to note is the ZP-100 has RCA line out. I don't think any other Sonos products have this feature (maybe the Play 5 does?)

They did a study that showed 70% of home TVs aren't wall mounted but instead are table topped on a piece of furniture. It's a category that has failed with every product line I've worked with but SONOS thinks they are so great that they can overcome. Can't wait to hook one up and see how it sounds.

ETA: Sanus is already making a swivel base for them

I bought a refurb like new connect from Best Buy. It's been perfect except the volume it outputs is much lower than my cable box. So I'm having to change the volume when I switch between inputs or it is loud as frick when I turn the tv back on.

Have it paired with a couple play 1s and I'm hooked. Love it.

Single line our for a sub? They have it. I use it in my garage setup. I wish I could set crossover settings like when I hook a sonos sub up....but it still sounds good.

We bought two connect amps to power our wired speakers outside on patio and inside our house. Wife wants to get a speaker that we can use in the basement. Not sure if I'm gonna get the small one or middle one. We love our system though!
