I just bought this a week ago and I love it, the tablet remote takes time to get used to but you can stream anything from it to the tv by swiping down twice on the tablet screen and select cast to screen.

And, the Vizio is a proprietary version of Chrome Cast - you can actually cast to it with any Android device with either Vizio's "Smartcast" or the Google Cast app. In fact, Google Cast has more access to things like the wallpaper and settings like that.

I like it - but I end up using the little remote more for routine uses - and we use Roku 90% of the time for streaming. However, with Smart Cast, you could go all streaming through the included tablet or other android device if that's the way you wanted to go.

Just bought one. If you have a bunch of teenagers to figure out how to use everything it will help[. I think I will love it once I learn everything about using it.

My father in law bought one and it was a mess for him. It had some type of auto sensing thing for the sound and when you turned it on it wouldn't get any sound from the uverse box. I had to download an app, connect iPhone to tv just to get into the tv settings. Pita

I have no idea what you're talking about here - there are settings you might have to adjust to get the HDMI audio pass through to work.

Some settings are through the Smartcast app. Yes, you need Google Cast to get to all the other settings, but you can do that with the included tablet.

Obviously, that's your opinion.

Older folks who are also uncomfortable with the way technology works are going to have a steep learning curve. I can agree with this.

Thanks Ace. We have all apple products. Will we be missing some cool functionally not having an android device?

You get a 6" Android tablet with the set. Are Google Cast and Vizio Smartcast in the Apple app store?

ETA: My son just got the same set you're looking at. He got jelly after he watched my P-series. He's convinced himself the M is "just as good." In all seriousness, the M might be an even better value.

im not sure if it came with a tablet, bestbuy sold it to him and ATT set it up. Uverse could not get the sound to work properly and switched the box like 3 times. I knew it was something in the settings though and i was just a little perturbed about having to use an app on my phone to fix it. Seems like a nice TV i guess it is the fault of Best Buy selling it to a 70 year old man who cant even use a smart phone

If it is this year's model, with Smartcast, it should have a tablet. That is Vizio's smart functionality. My son says it definitely streams in 4k, although I haven't had what I consider a successful test of that, yet. I've had to tweak my router settings and the only 4k/UHD streaming I've done to the new set has been Netflix and Youtube through the Roku 4 (which is hardwired to the router).

So this isn't a smart tv in the sense that it has the netflix app built in? Is that what it means by tuner free?

Correct - in a way - it's smart and efficient - it's much easier to have the phone or tablet app get updated and then, ta da, the television app is also updated. There is a certain elegance to that approach. And this is the trend - the makers are outsourcing (Sony is going Android TV, Samsung keeps it proprietary, but they have an external, upgradeable "box") - rather than handling all of that internally - something none of them truly mastered.

No - tuner free means no tuner - there is no way to get OTA or other coax signals built into the display. You would have to purchase a tuner and connect through a spare HDMI port for this functionality.
