Anyone dropped their smartphone for a tablet with data?

Pricing the new phones with data plans has me looking into this option. The iPad Air with a data plan is cheaper that the iPhone plus. Just looking for cons from someone who uses their tablet more than their phone.

In addition to the size, it doesn't make calls? I'm trying to think of the usage scenario where both the size and lack of voice call would work out and I can't think of any that are "normal". If it works for you more power to you, but they're typically supplementary devices for a reason.

Sounds like a great opportunity to get a flip phone.

Company pays for a phone (not a smart phone). I don't talk on a phone to anyone other than my wife, though. For a new phone with 10gs of data, I am being quoted $130/month, or buy the phone out right. That's a lot of cash to play clash of clans.

Do they pay up to a certain amount and you cover the difference if you want to buy a smart phone?

Who even uses "dumb" phones anymore other than drug dealers?

No. They provide the phone. Construction based, so they still use the two way flip phones. Very annoying. But that is what it is.

SKYPE, Jabber, etc...Any of these would just take the place...

Don't forget Google Voice, GroveIP, and I think the Vonage app might allow you to use your home phone #

Google Voice will let you make calls over your data plan.
