Anyone built their own drone?

How difficult would building one out be? Son wants one and I think it would be fun to build one.

Would buying one like the phantom be easier?

Depends on the level of diy you want. If you just use an already programmed flight controller and the like, its moderately simple.

I think I remember seeing a couple of kits a year or two ago. Im sure there are more now.

would need more info to say whether or not a phantom would be a smart choice. Sons age, purpose?

He's 10 and will mostly be plying with it and doing videos.

When I say phantom I'm talking the really "cheap" phantom. He thinks he can save his money and get the 3. It's going to take him a little while (years) to save that much.

Building one takes time and it can also cost much more than a phantom. Depends on what road you want to go down
