As posted on the OT Lounge a couple of weeks ago, I'm enamored with Japanese toilets after my recent two-week sojourn there. Has anybody had a full up-scale commode or a Toto-esque brand washlet adapted to their current setup?

It looks like I'll need an electrician and plumber as well as the kit/commode but I was wondering if any fellow TDers have taken the plunge?

The model I'm currently looking at is $700 before the services.

I'd be more willing to go all-out on the top of the line commode w/ bidet/washlet if I were more confident that I'd be in my current place for longer. Feel more confident in a unit that I invest less in and could even take with me if I decide to.

There was a toto thread here maybe 6 months or so ago. I almost got one after reading it.

I have a Toto toilet, but not a fancy one. It is just a Drake 1. Flushes like a mofo and can handle anything you throw at it.

You're doing it wrong.

So you take a shite and then hit a button and water sprays your arse clean? Are there air dryers? Is this messy?

I have a washlet e200. I love it and will probably have a bidet in every bathroom of my future home.

Install... I had an outlet in my water closet but it wasn't near the rear of the toilet. I just had to run an short extension cord until I had an electrician put an outlet closer to the rear. I used that extension cord for about 2 years b/c it wasn't a priority and the cord didn't bother me. As for the plumbing, I did it myself. It's very easy and probably only took 20-30 minutes.

no

It doesn't hurt to have a follow up wipe to make sure you are good to go, but whole the process it pretty seamless. The worst part about having a bidet at home is traveling elsewhere b/c you are back to wiping your arse with dry paper like cave man.
