Media Cube $299.00

Youtube video

quote:

WHAT IS A MEDIA CUBE

The Media Cube is an entertainment media hub unlike any other on the market, combining the essence of a sleek and stylish home theater system with the power and performance of a personal computer. The Media Cube is the quintessential multi-purpose system that easily functions as a cable box, DVR, on-demand streaming device, video game console, home theater center, media hub and mini PC for your TV making all other forms of home theater entertainment obsolete.

Imagine FREE cable with no commercials and FREE movies for life! All you need is a Media Cube with a customized, easy to use web interface that allows you to watch any movie, all seasons of your favorite TV shows from all over the world in Blu Ray quality, Netflix content, Pay-Per-View events, live sporting events (NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, NHL, etc.) and even adult channels all for FREE from anywhere in the world! There will no longer be any need for DVDs, On Demand or even cable TV and will save you a ton of $$$. Finally you can cut the cord and ditch cable TV once and for all!

As if all this wasn't enough, the Media Cube also has the ability to play 1,000s of video games from your favorite retro gaming consoles such as Nintendo, Atari, N64, PS1 and many more. The Media Cube comes with a remote control and an optional remote upgrade with a built in touchpad to use as a mouse and QWERTY pad for easier browsing is also available. In addition, you will be able to configure your mobile device or tablet to use as a remote control. Can your cable company do all that?

100% free movies, TV shows, news, Netflix, Hulu, PPV events, etc really sounds too good to be true. That 14 day 100% customer satisfaction guarantee sure sounds promising though. And in case you overlooked it above, even adult channels all for FREE .

Sounds like exactly what everyone in the world has been wanting.

Which means it's probably too good to be true.

No reviews or write-ups on the internet about it.

Sounds fishy.

I'm guessing it's not near as cool as you think it is and is more than likely a scam. Hell, I've had various old desktops running flavor of the month linux media OS variants for the past decade.

I'm assuming that "easy to use web interface" includes links to fishy movie streaming sites that want you to complete a survey/offer for access. Maybe it comes with uTorrent preinstalled and an invite to IPTorrents. Not sure how else you're going to get "free" access to premium content other than breaking the law.

EDIT: I thought this piece of shite looked familiar. This is an Amlogic S802 M8 Android TV Box that has been rebranded. This Media Cube Vendor obviously added XBMC with all the good piracy plugins.

Here's a link to the original product: LINK

Doing some more googling, it also appears that this media cube company was initially trying to use Ouya boxes as the base system but likely ran into some legal trouble. Or perhaps the M8 is just cheaper. Just grab it for $100 from the site above and add XBMC and the piracy plugins yourself.

EDIT2: Yeah, that below

It's just a arm device that is running XBMC software with a bunch of add-ons installed. You can find the same hardware for $100. LINK

It'll interface with illicit streaming sites, just as you can do from a PC.

And it's running XBMC on top of Android. With these devices, it's always preferable to have a Linux rom which will be more efficient than having to run the android system in the background.

How have I never heard of XMBC before...is it legit? Is there a better device to purchase to run it than this M8 device?

I'm also ready to jump in on the XBMC train. I have only kept cable TV for live sports. What is the best route for dropping Cox for TV(keeping intrawebz and phone of course)?

I just cancelled my cable last week, tired of paying so much and only watching a few shows and sports. I've got Netflix, Prime, an ESPN3 login and can usually find illegal streams for everything else.

My goal is to get some sort of media center up and running by the end of August, just want to get the best bang for the buck but haven't started researching too hard yet.

If all else fails I'll just got the Roku/Google Chromecast route or something.
