Any Good Experiences with Apple Genius Bar in Baton Rouge?

Long story short:
-Wife fumbled a bottle of water while working on her 13in Macbook pro (2014 I believe) and spilled literally 1 oz of water on it.
- Did the typical freak-out method of trying to turn it on immediately (I know, rule #1). Didn't come on and hasn't since Wed.
- Did all the recommended cleaning procedures off the internet (inverting it to dry, rice, no power to it, etc.)
- Read that in some cases, depending on the associate, the genius bar sometimes gives freebies if this is your first offense on damaging an apple product.
Obviously I am skeptical that the people at the genius bar give a shite what happened or have any desire to help us out, but wanted to know if anyone head any good experiences there dealing with a similar situation.

I got a freebie once on the wife's phone, but the incident happened pretty soon after she got it, so I think they worked it in under some warranty other than the AppleCare+ she has. I would assume you'll have to pay for a repair/refurb swap if her laptop is from 2014.

why people do this i'll never understand. Was one of the easier questions on my computer exam I gave to high school freshmen

I helped open the store and worked there for 3-4 years.
I can give you two major points on what to do that might help your case, but keep in mind that corporate kind of tightened down on what could and could not be done (and how frequently it could be done) at a store level.
Don't lie
I can't tell you how many times we replaced someones broken/mangled devices because they were just straight up with us. We also rejected so many for doing the opposite.
Look/act distraught
Pretty self-explanatory. Most of the floor employees want to help you out, it's the managers they have to win over. If you tell the truth and act like it's going to end your life to not have a machine, they'll be more likely to go to bat for you when discussing with a manager.
I'll be honest, for water spill on a machine you're probably not walking out of there with a new, free machine. I'd see if they can work with you on the price of the repair.

The first iPhone that had the glass back and was also having antenna issues so they were giving out the bumper cases (at least I think it was the same phone) I dropped it and it cracked about 3 days after I got it. I made the appointment and went to the Apple store and the guy said the case would've saved it but when I bought the phone the cases were out of stock. The associate that sold my the phone recognized me and came to the genius bar and talked to the genius and they just exchanged the phone. I saw the kid in the food court a few weeks later and bought him Chinese food.

I've been to one in jackson several times. Very good and helpful.

I had an older Iphone 5c (possibly the worst they ever made) that stopped being able to make calls. It will connect, but there is no volume going out of it at all. You can even hear the person talking on the other end. They claimed they had never seen this before and were unable to do anything with it. This was the day that I finally went Android.
This was not a good experience.
I still have the old Iphone though, still works for everything else but making calls.

Shortly after I got my iPhone 6 Plus I got drunk and tossed my phone on my bed, it missed completely and slammed into the leg of my night stand. Pretty noticeable dent, and the screen was slightly raised where it hit, and a slight yellow spot on it where it hit.
I took it to them and said it was a side effect of #BendGate.
Got a free new phone that day. Im still a piece of shite for it, but that's okay because I accept myself.

In these circumstances I advise customers to contact AppleCare, plead their case, act like they truly need their device, etc. Keep going until you get to a senior level adviser or a tier 2 adviser. Normally they will issue a CS Code for the repair. You can then bring it into the shop, we order the part which is sent next day, have the device ready for pickup in a day or two.
