Android users: how important is removable storage to you?

I'm seeing more and more flagships do away with it and I don't understand why. I personally find it a necessity and it's one of the main reasons I went with the HTC One M9 over the S6. It's always been one of the main benefits of android, along with removable batteries which are also becoming less prevalent. What gives?

Very important.
That's why I got the g4
Have my entire music library with me where ever I go.

Unnecessary - I did double removable storage 1 time on 1 phone. Other than that, now with increasing prevalance of cloud - speed and funtionality trump any sort of expandability and removable storage.

If anything, it removes a point of failure - card slot covers and the slots themselves were the easiest to damage elements (other than the screen, of course) of the early generation smart phones.

Zero to me. I rely upon the cloud heavily, at least as far as my phone goes. I had a SD card in my Note 4 (just because it was laying around), the card eventually went bad and started making the phone buggy as hell before the error messages started popping up, then I pulled it and never looked back. Had it and had no need for it, wasn't even 25% full.

So you don't use Pandora, Spotify, or Google Music at all? I'm also certain you don't use Netflix either right?

Bottom line the data usage for music streaming is fairly negligible in today's data world.....unless you have a very minimal plan.

I have all of my music on my phone. But I bought a 64gb phone.

On the other hand, I see no reason, at this point, for more than 64gb.

1. Space/volume. I know the cards are small, but the slot does take up space that might be better used for a larger battery or whatever.

2. Speed. SD cards are slower than internal storage, and there's no telling what users will put on there and then complain about their phone being slow.

3. Simplicity. Do you think the average user is competent enough to manage multiple volumes? Should the OS allow moving apps to SD card? What happens when the user swaps cards? What if the app and its data get separated? And media with thumbnails? Should, say, a photos app generate thumbnail images on the same volume as the originals, or should it keep all its thumbnails in a central location? What sort of mess would it be with multiple apps making thumbnails next to the originals? Or, if stored in a central location, what sort of performance impact will you see when the app can't find the originals because you've swapped cards?

4. Security. SD cards will almost always be formatted FAT for compatibility, but FAT has no concept of file ownership or security.

It's not that hard to download them to the device while on a Wifi connection.

I suppose if I used a phone with removable storage for years and suddenly had to do without it, I'd miss it. But I've always had the lowest-tier capacity models of every phone I buy. For me, having more storage would just make me hoard more useless clutter.

I am in the SD card removable battery camp. I have two charger docks at home with batteries in them. Everyone lately has been harping on the "rapid charge" tech, but I like the convenience of no charge time bound to a cord. I like going from 0% to 100% in 10 seconds.

Also not mentioned is QI wireless charging. I am spoiled by it. Have a bedside charger and customized my center console pocket of my truck with a hidden wireless dock.

None

I rely heavily on streaming music and cloud storage. I am around wifi 90% of the time so it's no big deal. I typically have data to burn.

Definitely removable battery camp for me. If your phone completely freezes and you can't even turn it off, what do you do? I have a Nexus 6 and luckily this hasn't happened to me.

Long-press the power button. Very long press, like 10+ seconds.

i dont even think about storage on my phone.

with videos + photo unlimited backup to g+ and my 40000 mp3 library on google music, who cares?

i can switch phones or wipe my phone with little hassle anytime.

at most i have to install a few apps but i'm not an 'app guy' so i don't really have all that much on my phone anyway.

amazon 'free app of the day' apps are nicely stored on amazon cloud for me and i can get them back anytime i want by logging into my account.

oh and i have tmobile so unlimited music streaming means i never worry about music being on my phone.
